2.1 Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to tickets, season passes, purchased gift vouchers and Event Credits issued by Astralis Ltd. T/A Firefly Cinema, trading publicly as Firefly Cinemas NZ ("Firefly"). It also applies to tickets sold by an authorised ticket agent where Firefly is the event promoter, subject to mandatory New Zealand law.
2.2 Ticket contract and authorised sellers
A ticket contract is formed when payment is accepted and Firefly sends a booking confirmation. A free event reservation is confirmed when the reservation confirmation email is sent.
Customers should purchase only from Firefly's official website (fireflycinemas.co.nz). Firefly is not responsible for invalid tickets obtained from unauthorised secondary ticket resellers.
2.3 Prices, GST and compulsory fees
Consumer ticket prices are displayed in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) inclusive of GST and any compulsory booking fees before checkout. Optional add-ons (such as FM radio rentals or snack bundles) are itemised separately.
2.4 Ticket types
The event listing identifies the admission basis, including:
- General Admission Vehicle Pass: Includes admission for up to 5 occupants in 1 vehicle bay.
- VIP Front-Row Vehicle Pass: Guaranteed front-and-centre vehicle bay.
- Walk-In / Deckchair Attendee: Bring-your-own chair or blanket seating pass.
- 100% Free Entry Passes: Community advance registration passes.
- Season Passes & Gift Vouchers: Prepaid multi-event bundles.
2.5 Delivery and booking details
Tickets are delivered electronically in PDF format to the email address entered at checkout. Attendees should verify the film title, date, venue, and vehicle category immediately upon receipt.
2.6 QR codes, validity and fraud controls
Each ticket contains a unique scannable QR code and Booking Reference valid for 1 entry scan. Firefly reserves the right to verify booking credentials at the gate to prevent fraudulent duplicates.
2.7 Lost tickets and contact-detail errors
If you lose your confirmation email or mistype your email address at checkout, contact info@fireflycinemas.co.nz with your full name, vehicle rego, and transaction reference to have your tickets reissued.
2.8 Ticket transfers and resale
Standard tickets may be transferred to family or friends at or below face value. Commercial scalping or reselling above face value is strictly prohibited.
2.9 Season passes
Season passes are valid for the specific season and screening quota purchased. If an advertised programme is cancelled by Firefly, passholders receive a fair pro-rata remedy.
2.10 Purchased gift vouchers
Gift vouchers issued under the Fair Trading Act 1986 have an expiry of at least 3 years from the date of issue. Vouchers are redeemable online across all eligible Firefly public screenings.
2.11 Promotional codes and complimentary tickets
Promotional codes and radio competition prizes have stated expiry dates and cannot be redeemed for cash.
2.12 Accessibility bookings
We provide accessible vehicle positioning and marshalled sightlines. Please let our ground marshals know upon arrival or email us in advance.
2.13 Film classification and age restrictions
Attendees must adhere to official New Zealand OFLC film classifications. Age-restricted films (R13, R16) require legal proof of age upon entry.
2.14 Arrival, late arrival and no-show
Gates open early (typically 1 to 1.5 hours before showtime) for food trucks and audio tuning. Late arrivals after the feature film has started may be held at the gate until a suitable pause to avoid headlight disturbance.
2.15 Refusal of entry and removal
Firefly reserves the right to refuse entry or remove individuals for dangerous driving, intoxication, harassment, open flames, or refusal to comply with marshal safety directions.
2.16 Customer cancellation and change of mind
Except where required by the NZ Consumer Guarantees Act, tickets are non-refundable for change of mind. However, attendees may transfer their ticket to another person or request an Event Credit by contacting us at least 48 hours before the event.
2.17 Event postponement and rain dates
If an event is postponed due to weather, tickets automatically transfer to the scheduled backup rain date. Attendees unable to make the backup date receive a digital Event Credit or refund.
2.18 Material event change
If a screening undergoes a major change (e.g. film title substitution or venue relocation), attendees will be notified and given the choice of accepting the change, an Event Credit, or a full refund.
2.19 Cancellation by Firefly
If an event is cancelled by Firefly without a replacement date, attendees receive a 100% refund of the ticket price.
2.20 Failure to supply or substantial service failure
If an event is stopped due to technical equipment failure before 50% of the film runtime has played, attendees receive a replacement ticket or full refund.
2.21 Firefly Event Credits
Digital Event Credits are issued directly to your email address and are valid for 3 years from the date of issue. Credits can be applied towards any upcoming Firefly screening.
2.22 Cash redemption, expiry and trade
Event Credits are non-cash redeemable except where required by law. Expired promotional credits lapse according to their disclosed terms.
2.24 Duplicate and incorrect charges
Any accidental duplicate charge will be investigated and refunded to the original payment card within 5 to 10 business days.
2.25 Chargebacks and payment disputes
We encourage customers to contact us first at info@fireflycinemas.co.nz so we can resolve any billing question directly.
2.26 Complaints and contact timeframes
Formal enquiries are acknowledged within 2 business days. Please provide your booking reference and full details.
2.27 Statutory consumer rights
Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986.
